Hagrid's Wild Ride: Fully-Body Haptic VR

We won the Faculty and Staff Choice Award as well as the Builder’s Choice Award!

Summary

For this year's Build18 Hackathon, our team designed and built a passive haptic feedback system for virtual reality environments. Emulating the magic brooms of Quidditch in Harry Potter, our spring-mounted rig uses an IMU to measure orientation of the user. Players physically lean towards any direction to move in the game, making VR flight feel more real than ever.
